KKMA brings laurel to state
ITANAGAR, Oct 23: The cultural troupe of Kristi Kendra Music Academy (KKMA), Nahaharlagun led by its Principal Romen Ch. Nath has brought laurel to Arunachal Pradesh by winning the first position in the Folk Dance category in the 39th International Kiran Music Event organized by Kiran International Stage for Performing Arts of Madhya Pradesh from September 26 to October 1 at Katni, Madhya Pradesh.
The troupe also won the title of Lok Nritya Shri 2013.
The KKMA team performed Bihu dance in the competition.
‘Stop further payment’
ITANAGAR, Oct 23: Alleging that the road formation cutting from Pachi to Rigam under NLCPR scheme was not as per the CPWD specification, the Pachi Rigam Road Development Committee has demanded the CE (WZ) to stop further payment against the ongoing work till completion of the first phase.
In a complaint letter lodged with the chief engineer, PWD (western zone), the committee claimed payment amounting to Rs 5.10 crore (approx) against works of 13.6 km, whereas the actual work done, as per the Committee, is only 3 to 4 km.
It also alleged that the road alignment was not satisfactory and in accordance with the NLCPR norms.
Cleanliness drive at Rang Frah Govt. College
CHANGLANG, Oct 23: The district administration and district urban development agency (DUDA) in collaboration with Rang Frah Govt. College conducted a cleanliness drive in the college campus here today.
The students of the college were divided into many groups under the supervision of Changlang ADC, Principal, faculty members, UPO to carry out the social service. They cleaned the college surrounding by disposing of the garbage, clearing roadside weeds etc.
Deputy Commissioner cum DUDA Chairman Chanchal Yadav and Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar also joined the cleanliness drive along with their team. Both the DC and SP have advised the students to keep their college surrounding neat and clean by carrying out such cleanliness drive on regular basis. DUDA provided man and machineries for the social service.

Consumer Awareness Campaign Organized
DAPORIJO, Oct 23: The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs, Daporijo organized a consumer awareness campaign at Dumporijo Circuit House campus by displaying banners, posters, hoardings and distributing booklets and demonstrating consumer items.
Attending the programme, Dumporijo ADC Tabin Siga advised the traders to know their duties and the consumers their rights. He also advised the traders to earn profit without hurting the sentiments of the common consumers.

ATSU reacts to VDTAWA’s statement on shifting of burial ground
ITANAGAR, Oct 23: All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU), in a release, clarified that the Union is demanding for shifting of the Burial cum Cremation ground, Daporijo on hygienic ground as it will pollute the surrounding area and also cause health risk.
Reacting to the press statement of Villages of Daporijo Township Area Welfare Association (VDTAWA), which opposed the ATSU move, the students union further clarified that there was no any personal or political motive behind the move. “We are not against the burial ground but against the location,” ATSU said.
It further appealed VDTAWA not to intervene the matter. “Let government solve it,” the release added.
West Siang farmers attend training on Ramie cultivation

ITANAGAR, Oct 23: The district level patriotic song competitions for Lohit and Anjaw were conducted at Tezu on October 20 organised by IFCSAP, Lohit unit in collaboration with Sanskar Bharati Arunachal Pradesh.
Munna Krong, Biki Malo and Wechilu Tulang won the first, second and third positions in competition held for Lohit while Jaikishan Pul and Ankita Rawat were adjudged first and second in the competition held for Anjaw district.

Consumer Court settles 3 cases;imposes fine on P&T deptt, SBI
PASIGHAT, Oct 23: East Siang Consumer Court (District Forum) directed the Post and Telegraph (P&T) Department to pay Rs 20,000 as compensation to one Ratul Paboh of Oyan, who could not attend the APPSC preliminary examination due to negligence of the department in delivering the calling letter on time.
According to official sources, the call letter to the candidate, which was posted at Itanagar dated on 12.12.2009 reached Pasighat on dated 18.12. 2009. However, late delivery of the calling letter by the P&T Department deprived Paboh from attending the examination. The candidate, who resides at Oyan, 26 km from Pasighat, received the calling letter only on 25.03.2010.
In another incident, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1000 on a private travel agency after receiving complaint from a passenger.

ITANAGAR, Oct 23: The 4th business meeting of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) was held at IMC Council Hall, Naharlagun today.

The meeting unanimously adopted few resolutions, such as to materialize the handing over of subjects with budget provisions as per the business transferred to the municipality by the State Government, creation of technical wings headed by an Executive Engineer (Civil) under Itanagar Municipal Council and Amendment of Section 36 of Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Act, 2007 and posting of an independent CMEO to IMC.
Higio Aruni, Chief Councilor, Itanagar Municipal Council constituted a committee headed by Kipa Babu along with the five members of Empowered Standing Committee to discuss and materialize the handing over of eight functions of the State Government departments to the Municipal Bodies. ITANAGAR, Oct 23: The National Service Scheme (NSS) has a vital role to play in overall personality development of the students, said Director of Higher and Technical Education Dr. Joram Begi.
Attending the Induction cum Orientation Programme of NSS unit of Govt. College, Doimukh yesterday, Dr. Begi highlighted the importance of joining NSS to gain an upper hand in this age of cut throat competition.
He informed that the Government of India has increased the strength of NSS volunteers from 6000 to 10000 in Arunachal Pradesh. Also, he informed that an additional NSS unit will be opened in the college next year.

Dr. NT Rikam, Principal of the College highlighted the various problems of the college, including infrastructure and manpower, and requested Dr. Begi to look into them. Workshop on Consumer Rights held
NAHARLAGUN, Oct 23: With an objective of creating awareness among people, a one day workshop on consumer rights was organized by the Consumer Rights Organization Arunachal Unit (CROAU) on the theme “Consumer Rights” here today.
Speaking on the occasion as the resource person, Taba Tabin, Inspector, Department of Legal Meteorology and Consumer Affairs, highlighted all the aspects of consumer rights and its relevance in the State. He appreciated the initiative taken by the organisation in conducting such workshop which is a huge step towards creating awareness among the mass.
He further stressed on legal implication related to the consumer rights and acts enacted to protect the consumer such as Legal Meteorology Act (2009) and Consumer Protection Act (1986). He further spoke on length about Consumer Forum and the working of the Department in this regard. He also answered all the queries and doubts raised by the members and the participants.
Earlier, Jalley Sonam, Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, who is also the State President, Consumer Right Organisation Arunachal Unit welcomed all the members and participants in the workshop. He threw light on how the organisation came into being in the State.

Arunachal Karate Association felicitates Nobin
ITANAGAR, Oct 23: Arunachal Karate Do Association (AKA) has felicitated P Nobin Jomoh for his outstanding performance in the Commonwealth Karate Championship, which concluded at Montreal, Canada recently. AKA also awarded Rs.50,000 to Nobin as a token of love and encouragement in the function organized at Naharlagun today morning.
Nobin won two silver medals in the Championship to become first from North East to win Commonwealth Karate medal in senior category.
Attending the programme, Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) Chairman Tapuk Taki said, “I feel very proud with the performance of Nobin,” and wished him all success in life.
“I have seen our karatekas are performing very well in the last couple of years at national as well as international events; and the medals won by Nobin in Canada is testament to the fact,” Tapuk said. He hoped, the sportspersons of the state will put Arunachal on the sports map of the world in days to come.
Explaining the great role of a coach in the performance of a player, the SAA Chairman praised the coaches and all others, who made Nobin a champion.
He said, “As a Chairman of SAA, I am trying my level best to bring more fund to the Authority so that it can be utilized for further development of games and sports in the state.”
SAA Vice Chairman Likha Tara credited the performance of the karate players to its coaches and instructors.
“Whatever we have achieved so far; it is only due to the sincere and dedicated efforts of the coaches and instructors,” Tara, who also is AKA president, said. He said, AKA will try its best to win Gold in the forthcoming National Games in Kerala. He advised the players to practice hard to improve their level of performance.

PM raises stapled visa issue with China
BEIJING, Oct 23: India today objected to the issue of stapled visas by China to residents of some states over whose parts Beijing has laid claim to, even as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pledged his commitment to visa simplification to facilitate travel of Chinese nationals.
The issue of stapled visas to two Indian women archers from Arunachal Pradesh by the Chinese Embassy in Delhi recently was raised during the discussions between Prime Minister Singh and Premier Li Keqiang at the Great Hall of the People here.
Singh told the media after his talks that "I conveyed to Premier Li our commitment to visa simplification to facilitate travel of Chinese nationals to India and expressed the hope that China will also facilitate such exchanges."
Ahead of the visit, there were indications that an agreement on a liberalised visa regime was close to being signed between the countries.

Remaining silent is wrong option
Dear Editor,
It seems like there is nobody in Arunachal government who read daily newspaper that's why we have to repeat same thing again and again. This letter may irritate the concern department but it will continue until or unless frustration of many is relieved. We only want different govt. department to release the pending faith of many unemployed youth. At the top of the list, PWD department of AP is determined to create a record by delaying their UDC/LDC written result. I don't know what they are doing with our papers? But somewhere it also smells like department may be really interested for 2014 election in other word "BRIBERY ". In another case APP is showing laziness in declaring the result of lady constable which is really embarrassing. If these exams were organized in systematic which they claim then who is accountable for delay in declaring result? In this regard I request the concern ministers to take necessary actions. Do not play with the emotions of unemployed. I also request concern candidates to take some initiatives. Because by remaining silent we will get nothing.

How long we will have to wait?
Dear Editor,
Through the esteemed column of your daily, we would like to place our views to our PWD, Minister and head of department PWD, Capital Circle regarding delay in declaring written examination results for the post of UDC/LDC. The said exam for UDC was conducted on 27th to 28th April 2013 and for LDC on 1st June 2013. Seven months has passed but still there is no any news regarding declaration of results.
All the candidates are eagerly waiting to hear their result. Whether pass or fail, the candidates are ready to accept the outcome of results but it should be declared first. By delaying the declaration of result PWD Department is compelling the candidates to file RTI against them and the write against them in various local newspapers. Through this letter we want to ask the PWD Minister and Head of Department that when they will declare results. How long we will have to wait for the written examination result? And who will bear our expenses on paper work at the time of submission of application forms?
